• In the last three years we have invested over $25 million into the facility to provide the latest and greatest club for our members
• The blue screen at the basketball court was originially going to be a rock-climbing wall but was not viable because it was not tall enough for competitive rock climbers
• Our Gorilla Bars are one of a kind - they were custom built to be 67 feet long with a high point of 11 feet and low at 8 ft. The fastest down & back time we have on record is 18 seconds. The current reigning champion employee is GM, Dave Hannibal.
• There are 63 shampoo stations
- 64
• 'Cheers Club' - Buckingham is the smallest of the Merritt Clubs but has the biggest of hearts with its 'Cheers' like atmosphere. You are greeted by almost the same faces every day to encourage you on your fitness journey.
• Forget your headphones, shorts, socks etc? The front desk has those items readily available so that way you don't have to go back home.
• Outside of the townhomes, Buckingham is the longest tenant of the Buckingham complex.

In 1865, the building was the Northern Central Railway, the largest railway depot of its time. It was originally constructed as a drop off point for Baltimore area farmers who left hay and produce to be transported by rail. The areas forming our aerobics room, women's locker room, running track, and basketball court accommodated 100 freight cars.
This building is one of only 3 in the US that has a roof supported by the Fink Truss System, a railway bridge suspension concept that eliminates vertical supports, facilitating train loading. This system of beams and iron cable are visible above the fitness floor and in the pool area.
The building (known as "Shed A" in 1865) was constructed using nearly 1 million bricks.
President Lincoln's funeral train passed through the structure.
The Railway Express Company occupied the building from 1947 through the 1960's and survived the great Baltimore fire.
The building was purchased in 1976 and renovated into a tennis and racquetball club, maintaining its architectural integrity. It's listed as a historical building with the Mt. Vernon Historical Trust District. The design team received an architectural preservation award from the city in 1979.
Originally known as the Downtown Athletic Club, it was opened in 1977, and was acquired by Merritt Clubs in 1989.
Home to the Baltimore Ravens' Cheerleader tryouts
Has had guests such as John Travolta, Nicole Kidman, Colin Powell's daughter, Dancing with the Stars dancers, and WWE performers
